heresy of the free spirit is an annihilation of otherness & a unification of polarizing elements, an untempered expansion into the unknown. the ennead (tracks 2, 4, 6) are untempered minimalist expansions & improvisations. unquiet thoughts (tracks 1, 3, 5, 7) live in the confines & expanses of memory. creative process synthesizes 14th, 16th & 17th century compositional forms & practices with characteristics of 20th century minimalism & explores ostinati, tetrachords & rhythmic modes, phases & drones, stasis & gradual transformation, eternal & infinite realizations & variations, nonretrogradable ideas & forms. originally written for baroque lute.recorded live in a moss covered cabin beneath coastal redwoods on 13 march 2015. a moments glimpse unveiled in time: unedited & true. released in a nonretrogradable prime numbered edition of 373 copies: 313 regular edition (this) + 33 art edition + 27 gift copies.
