Notes
This three-disc set features songs performed in both Pennsylvania Dutch and then sung again and interspersed with English patter. The songs are played on the acoustic guitar and sung by Dr. J. William Frey, an academic and scholar of the German and Pennsylvania Dutch languages.The 3-disk set comes in a hardcover-bound book with text on the inside covers, explaining the making of the album, which was a project of the Pennsylvania Dutch Folklore Center at Franklin Marshall College.
Dr. J William Frey was a native of York County, PA and after graduating with honors from Dickinson college, he studies in Germany, France, and then earned his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in German from the University of Illinois. He taught for many years and Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA.
