Notes on the front of the sleeve:"Panthalassa" marks a return to some of the most important recordings of Miles Davis' passionate and controversial "electric" period of the early 1970s. Conceived by producer Bill Laswell as a modern mix translation and reconstruction in sound, this unprecedented project features newly restored performances and never-before-heard extended themes from "In A Silent Way" , "On The Corner" and "Get Up With It" - all taken from the original multi-track tapes.

"Panthalassa" is sequenced as a continuous suite of music to emulate the free-flowing, almost liquid exchange of ideas between Miles and the singularly gifted musicians he worked with during this period. Once limited by the time constraints of the LP format (which required extensive editing of literally hours of tape), this revolutionary music can now be heard in a unique new concept that recaptures the primary texture, energy, essence and transcendence of the original sessions.
