Notes
Early Canadian pressing with blue Capitol labels. Several errors present which were corrected in later pressings of the same-designed releases. SEE IMAGES for details claimed.Gatefold with blue inner lyrics-sleeves used for the "blue album" design from the beginning.
Mistake 1: This release/example was delivered using the the first of two custom-designed sleeves, "SKBO 3404A," for both disks. So the lyrics for Sides C and D were not provided.
On Spine, "ER Printed in Canada" (identifies "Ever Reddy Packaging")
Packaging based upon or co-released with US design released as Apple Records in 1973, and as Capitol Records circa 1974-1976. No examples of a Canadian release with Apple Labels have yet appeared in Discogs. It is improbable that a major US release would have been denied circulation in Canada for three years.
It is common for Canadian releases to differ from US releases, even when they share packaging, primary labels, and catalogue numbers, for example packaging a European-sourced pressing in Canadian versions of a US design/label/catalogue number. This is usual for Decca-Capital-Angel-EMI classical releases.
Therefore the suggestion that this Canadian release may have been as early as 1973 under the Capital label cannot be dismissed simply because the US examples lead members to assume this is the case.
Mistake 2: Only the second disk (Sides C and D) includes the "Mastered by Capitol" and "Donut" symbol on the matrix-run-out tracks, suggesting that DIsk 1 (Sides A and B) was manufactured at a different source, or a different pressing... such as a 1973 APPLE pressing with a unique Canadian CAPITAL label.
Mistake 3: On the LP Label track D6 is identified as "Accross the Universe." This simple typo is corrected in all US and Canadian examples of this catalogue number I have examined, which strongly suggests this example was one of the very first to be released in Canada, before the error was corrected.
In comparison with the other well-documented most-similar release, The Beatles - 1967-1970
the Capital logo and Canadian identifiers on the lower right back cover are presented differently. In my release as cited below, the logo and text are fewer lines beginning in the balcony underside. In the other release image it is a block of more shorter lines superimposed on the lower white triangle of the "wall".

EMI gained control of Capitol in 1972, but according to the following source, the "Capital Records-EMI Limited of Canada" form began in 1974:

If true, the earliest possible date for this Canadian release is 1974. This corresponds with my age at the time I remember buying it as soon as it was available (1974-1975).
Elements not found in this release which do appear in (some or all?) later releases:
- No reference to George Martin as Producer (gatefold inside lower right)
- This release does not identify a specific mastering facility or mastering engineer
- No reference to "The Lacquer Channel Limited"
- many other releases give the name of the composer of D4 as last-name only.
